Martha Zinn Balfour

Martha M. (Zinn) Balfour, 90, of South Eberhart Road, Butler, formerly of Connoquenessing, passed away at 11:53 a.m. Thursday surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter and son in-law, Linda and Thomas Sheridan. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.

Born Nov. 22, 1919, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late George Zinn and Cora Snyder Zinn.

Mrs. Balfour was a member of Connoquenessing United Methodist Church.

She was a nurse's aide at Butler Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1983.

Mrs. Balfour was a former member of the Butler Chapter 45 Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Balfour is survived by two daughters, Linda Sheridan and her husband, Thomas, of Meridian and Beverly "Becky" Balfour of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and two grandchildren, the joys of her life, Megan Sheridan of Baltimore, Md., and John Sheridan of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Mrs. Balfour was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Balfour. They were married on April 13, 1940; and he preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1999. She also was preceded in death by one son, Tim Balfour, and four sisters.

<B>BALFOUR</B> — Friends of Martha M. (Zinn) Balfour, who died Thursday, April 29, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Connoquenessing United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Shute of Connoquenessing United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, the family of Martha Balfour suggests donations to the American Parkinson's disease Association, 420 E.
