Weitzel

Jay C. Weitzel, 85, of New Castle Road, Butler, died at 4:21 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 17, 1924, in Butler, he was the son of the late Plummer Weitzel and Florence Bortmas Weitzel.

Mr. Weitzel owned and operated his own truck and was a driver for Kaplan Trucking in Cleveland until his retirement in 1979. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union.

Mr. Weitzel is survived by his wife, Waneda Sasse Weitzel, who he married on July 30, 1945. He is also survived by two sons, Gerald "Jerry" Weitzel of Prospect and his fiance, Lynda Byers, of Sarver, and Gary Weitzel and his wife, Teri, of Prospect; two daughters, Janet Menchyk and her husband, Frank, of Prospect, and Judy Courtney of Prospect; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters, Dorothy Fullerton and Florence "Honey" Weitzel, both of Butler.

Mr. Weitzel was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Dale, and Plummer Jr. Weitzel, all of Butler.

<B>WEITZEL</B> — Friends of Jay C. Weitzel, who died Thursday, April 29, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Huber of North Street Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
