Helen A. Lewis, 95, of North Elm Street, Butler, died early Tuesday morning surrounded by her family.

She was born in Chicora, Oct. 16, 1914, a daughter of the late John F. and Agnes Lehnerd Steibel.

A licensed practical nurse, she graduated from the Butler Memorial Hospital school of nursing in 1958. Helen then worked as an optical technician for 37 years with Dr. D.L. Cribbs, a longtime Butler ophthalmologist.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler.

She was the widow of Raymond J. Lewis, who died July 29, 1983. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Steibel Lackey, and two brothers, Joseph F. Steibel and Paul N. Steibel.

Surviving are two sons, R. Joseph Lewis Jr., and Jon W. "Jack" Lewis and his wife Patricia, all of Butler; and six grandchildren, Joseph E. (Laura) Lewis of Wintersville, Ohio, Jaci Accarpio of Berlin, Conn., April Lewis and Susan Holcombe of Wethersfield, Conn., Amber (Jeff) Niles of New Castle and Maria E. Lewis and Helen A. Lewis, both of Butler. She also is survived by her "Little Angels," her nine great-grandchildren.

<B>LEWIS </B>— A Mass of Christian burial for Helen A. Lewis, who died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Butler. There will be no visitation.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at the church.Arrangements are by <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler, and information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
