YOUTH SPORTS

The Butler junior high Blue boys lacrosse team defeated Indiana 12-2 recently.

Clay Bachman scored five goals, Jake Harrison had four tallies, and Anthony Balestino, Sebastan Moran and Cody Houston had one each. Goalie Josh Jablonski made 17 saves.

• The Butler third- and fourth-grade team posted wins of 4-3 over Mars and 6-0 over Pine-Richland. Luke Kranbacher scored two goals, and Moses Moran and Ben Kranbacher had a goal and an assist each vs. Mars.

Jon Jablonski had three goals, Moran two and Ben Kranbacher one against Pine-Richland. Goalkeeper Alex Culbertson had eight saves.

• Butler's kindergarten through second-grade team defeated Pine-Richland 6-5. Conner Stroble had two goals and goalkeeper Emma Clark had six saves.

Track and Field

The Butler junior high boys improved to 8-0 and increased their overall dual meet winning streak to 43 with a 103½-23½ win over North Hills.

First-place finishers in individual events for the Golden Tornado were Byron Minous in the 110-meter high hurdles, 100 meters and long jump; Christopher Short in the 800 and 1,600; Matt Christy in the 400; Tyler Roudybush in the high jump; Wesley McCurdy in the triple jump and Michael Herschl in the pole vault.

The 400-meter relay team of Christy, Minous, Robert Burdine and Widenhofer, and the 1,600-meter relay team of Burdine, Austin Grupp, Mason Kauffman and Widenhofer also won.

The Butler girls defeated North Hills 103-24. The Tornado won both relay events as well.

Individual first places went to Fugh in the 110 high hurdles; Weyand in the 1,600 meters; Macy in the 400 and 800; Stewart in the 200; Baxter in the long jump, high jump and triple jump,; Wulff in the pole vault; Callihan in the shot put, and Smith in the discus.

First names were not provided.

Christen Davis tripled and Maddy Graham had two singles, but the Butler junior high softball team fell to North Hills 8-4 Friday.Stephanie Wilczynski and Hanna Kabayeach had singles and Hope Wonderling struck out three batters for the Golden Tornado.
