YORK — Harley-Davidson says it has idled motorcycle plants in central Pennsylvania and Kansas City due to health concerns over a paint chemical.

Spokesman Michael DiMauro says the Milwaukee-based company was alerted by a supplier that its paint for coating motorcycle parts could expose workers to benzene.

The chemical has been linked to cancer, and prolonged exposure can cause health problems.

Oil near $84 in Europe amid Greece crisis

Oil prices remained near $84 on Friday despite fears that Greece's debt crisis will hurt economic recovery and energy demand. Analysts, however, predicted lower prices in the near term.

By midday in Europe, benchmark crude for June delivery was up 10 cents to $83.80 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 2 cents to settle at $83.70 on Thursday.
