BUTLER TOWNSHIP — Take Care Health Systems, a manager of convenient care clinics in Walgreens, opened a new clinic in Butler, bringing the total number of clinics in the Pittsburgh area to 14.

Take Care Clinics are located in select Walgreens pharmacies and provide health care.

The insured pay a co-pay on the day of the visit. For the uninsured, treatments start at $65.

Locally, the clinic is located at 280 New Castle Road.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Women's Soccer Team, Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation department, and Slippery Rock School District have teamed up to sponsor a 5K Run/3M Walk to benefit the new VNA Inpatient Hospice opening soon in Butler.This event will be held at 9 a.m. May 1 at the parks and recreation office at 320 N. GROVE CITY — Grove City Medical Center, in partnership with Family Hospice & Palliative Care, will sponsor a series of workshops for those dealing with the loss of a loved one.The free, six-week educational/support bereavement program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning April 20 and ending May 25.Facilitator of the program will be Jeff Harter, spiritual care and bereavement specialist for Family Hospice & Palliative Care.Registration is required. FREEPORT — A-K Pulser, Alle-Kiski Medical Center's hospital-based paramedic response unit, is hosting its 5th Annual Spring Wine, Cheese and Pasta Festival April 10 at Laube Hall.More than 20 local and international wines will be available at the event. The evening also includes a pasta bar, imported cheese and meats, dessert table, piano bar and a silent and Chinese auction.The festival runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door or may be purchased in advance by calling 724-226-7041.

David Beight of Zelienople was the recent recipient of the Lance Elite Award for outstanding service and sales performance.A sales representative for Lance for 25 years, Beight was chosen for this honor out of 100 people selected from the eastern region/mid-atlantic zone.The prize was a trip to Charleston, S.C., in March including dinner with the company president.After dinner, Beight was presented a plaque and other keepsakes.Beight's sales territory has been in the Butler area, including Butler, Zelienople, Evans City, Cranberry Township, Portersville and Mars.
