Butler Y swimmer wins state title
STATE COLLEGE — Chadd Cummings was the lone Butler County Family YMCA swimmer to claim a state title last weekend at the Pennsylvania YMCA Swimming Championships held at Penn State University.
Cummings won the boys 11-12 50-yard breaststroke, swimming the event in 30.51 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.17 seconds.
Other Butler swimmers placing among the top seven in their respective events include:
• The boys 10-and-under 200-yard medley relay team of Ian Schirra, Sevryn Napora, Max Merhaut and Nico Cicco, third in 2:20.
• Merhaut, fifth in the boys 10-under 100-yard individual medley in 1:14.17 and sixth in the 50-yard butterfly in 33.80.
• Napora, seventh in the boys 10-under 50-yard breaststroke in 39.16.
• Camryn Forbes, third in the girls 11-12 50-yard butterfly in 29.05 and third in the 50-yard backstroke in 30.20.
• Matt Goettler, third in the boys 15-18 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.31.
