YOUTH FOOTBALL
The SV Stallions advanced to the Super Bowl game of the Greater 19 Youth Football Association for the 6-to-7 age group with a 13-7 win over visiting Bethel Park recently.
The game was a back-and- forth struggle between the two 7-1 teams. The Stallions took a 7-0 lead on a 25-yard run by Mason Bush and the extra point conversion run by Gabe Lawson.
With time running out in the first half, several key blocks by Luke Harris, Matt Altsman and Josh Miller gave Bush, who recorded 142 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns, scored from 20 yards out.
With the Stallions holding a 13-7 lead, they snuffed out a fourth-and-3 play at the Stallions 6-yard line with less than 25 seconds to play.
Luke Harris led the defense with 12 tackles.
The Super Bowl game against Peters Township will be played at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Park Stadium.
