The McConnells in 1959

Donald and Betty McConnell of Slippery Rock celebrated 50 years of marriage with a surprise dinner party with close family at the home of their son, Robert McConnell. A trip to New York City also is planned.

McConnell married the former Betty Turk on Sept. 11, 1959, at Wesley Methodist Church in New Castle.

They have three children, Robert McConnell of Slippery Rock, Shelly Weber of Dover, Del., and Jeffery McConnell of West Sunbury.

They also have two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.Mr. McConnell is retired from McConnell Auto Supply in Slippery Rock.Mrs. McConnell is retired from Towers and Campus Heights Rental in Slippery Rock.
