The Werners in 1954

George and Mary Werner of Butler celebrated 55 years of marriage with a family dinner.

Werner married the former Mary Russo on Sept. 6, 1954, at St. Raphael Church in Pittsburgh.

They have five children, Randal Werner of Butler, Cheryl Hall of Butler, Christopher Werner of Chalfont, Cathy Ferne of Butler and Lori Hartman of Butler. Another child, Lynn Kiermaier, is deceased.

They also have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Mr. Werner is a retired sheet metal worker. He is a Korean War veteran, master gardener and wood craftsman.Mrs. Werner is a retired medical receptionist. She is a senior SRU student, quilter and a member of the Red Hat Society.
