Russo 50th anniversary
John and Joan Russo of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a surprise party at their home given by their children, which included video highlights of the past 50 years, a poem, catered lunch and dinner, and guests comprised of family and neighborhood friends.
Russo married the former Joan E. Tarcha on Aug. 8, 1959, at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
They have four children, John Russo Jr. of Latrobe and Steve Russo, Jayme Russo and Brian Russo, all of Butler. They also have an adopted daughter Andrea Hollock of El Paso, Texas.
They also have seven grandchildren.
Mr. Russo is a retired school teacher. He taught for 33 years in the Butler School District. He spends his spare time at Panera Bread or the mall food court.
Mrs. Russo is a registered nurse and currently works at Concordia Visiting Nurses. She enjoys cooking a Sunday family meal each week and spending countless hours with her grandchildren.
The Russos attend St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
