The Schaffners in 1959

Thomas and Donna Schaffner of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner at Hyde Park Restaurant followed by a Pittsburgh Pirates game.

Thomas Schaffner married the former Donna Strobel on June 6, 1959, at St. Conrad's Church in Meridian.

They have three children, Laura Schaffner of Butler, Mark Schaffner of Allenwood, N.J., and Maria Siatowski of Butler.

Schaffner is a retired special education teacher and is retired from the Army. He is a member of the American Legion, Saxonburg Firehall and R.C. Men's Club.

Mrs. Schaffner is retired from Butler Memorial Hospital, where she was a registration clerk.
