Floyd L. Taylor
Floyd L. Taylor, 82, of Portersville died Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Summit Township, a son of the late Joseph B. and Lillian Parris Taylor.
Floyd worked as a courier in the stores department at Butler Armco for 43 years until his retirement in 1991. He then drove a school bus for the Laurel School District for 11 years until 2002. He also was a security guard for Keystone Security at the Butler Farm Show, the Lawrence County Fair and the Stoneboro Fair.
He was member of Holy One of Israel Tabernacle in Portersville.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Surviving are his wife, Vernelia J. "Nellie" Watterson Taylor, who he married Feb. 16, 1948; two sons and their wives, Floyd L. "Butch" Taylor Jr. and Evelyn Taylor of Butler and Terry D. and Jami Taylor of Slippery Rock; one daughter, Yvonne J. Brandon of Slippery Rock; one sister, Evelyn Gallagher (Richard) of Saxonburg; six grandchildren, Cloressa Gracie, Melissa Bush, Jeremy Taylor, Jessica Lee, Erica White and Jason Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Evan and Emma Bush, Jordan Gracie, Garrett and James Lee and Cassady Jane Eckelberger; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were three brothers and one sister.
<B>TAYLOR</B> — Friends of Floyd L. Taylor, who died Friday, May 29, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Easton, pastor of Church of the Nazarene in Butler, officiating.
