QUESTION: Why are you running for a seat?FORD: As Adams Township continues to grow in population, I want to see the township grow accordingly. It's important that we react to the growth in public safety efforts, and increasing our youth facilities. I was a business owner in Mars for nine years and have lived in Adams Township most of my life. I have been on the board of directors for Adams Area Fire district for the past five years and have been involved with Mars Home for Youth fundraising efforts for the last four years. It's important to me to give back to our community.LEES: For the past 20 years, I have committed myself to helping make Adams Township a great place to live and raise a family. Having been blessed to be born and raised in Adams Township, I've seen it grow from a pristine farming community where everyone knew their neighbors to a township that has controlled its own destiny by managing growth and development that would be inevitable because of our proximity to Pittsburgh. We have also adopted ordinances to benefit our residents as well as Adams Township. Our residents also enjoy traveling on the best maintained roads in Butler County.McMEEKIN: To work to maintain the balance between the agricultural history of Adams Township and the pressures of growth and development.QUESTION: What are the top three issues facing your municipality?FORD: The public safety efforts for a growing community, increasing youth facilities and fiscal responsibility in a troubled economy.LEES: 1. Control growth and development and in a broader sense. Work with our county and state officials to find a resolution to the Route 228 issue.2. Focus on the further development of our park and recreation department. We have committed to add several ball fields as well as develop other types of activities for all ages.3. Address ways to improve the safety and welfare of all citizens as well as our continued support of the fire departments that serve Adams Township.McMEEKIN: The Route 228 corridor, the growth in Adams Township and the current economic situation of the country as it may affect Adams Township.
