QUESTION: Why are you running? GRINNELL: I am running for the office of supervisor to help guide the future of Jackson Township. I have been a resident of the township for over 30 years. I am the founder and director of Harmony EMS, the ambulance service located in the township. I believe I have an appreciation of the issues, both past and present, faced by residents and businessmen alike.LUTZ: Jackson Township has a reputation of being very difficult to do business with and has lost its focus in being a servant to the people. To be a servant requires a servant's heart or to be humble, and until that humbleness is restored, the township cannot help people with their concerns and goals.QUESTION: What are the top three issues facing your municipality?GRINNELL: Setting goals and devising a plan for the future of the township, something which is non-existent according to the current supervisors. Maintenance and improvement of township roads without sacrificing public safety services. Review and amend outdated township ordinances that discourage residents and businessmen who are attempting to improve their properties.LUTZ: The township roads are the biggest concern. Township supervisors (need) to reestablish this as our primary responsibility and everything else as secondary; we need to make the township "user friendly." Citizens and visitors should expect elected officials and employees to be willing and able to aid in their concerns. We need to get rid of the attitude of delays and throwing up road blocks to what people want to do; we need to utilize our financial resources efficiently. Currently, the township is underfunded for road maintenance. We need direct more resources to our (roads). This can be done without raising taxes if we generate other revenue sources and readjust the budget.
