Matilda Sheptak
Matilda Sheptak, 90, formerly of North Monroe Street, passed away peacefully Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born July 3, 1918, in Butler, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Rivelli Malvarose.
Mrs. Sheptak was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
She loved to cook and bake for her family. Her family was her life. She also enjoyed playing cards and the lottery. She formerly bowled duckpins at the Knights of Columbus and was also a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Butler.
Her husband, Michael Sheptak Sr., preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1982. Five brothers and four sisters also preceded her.
Surviving are her son, Michael Sheptak Jr. of Butler; a granddaughter, Mrs. Amy Sheptak Dickison and her husband, John Dickison, of Butler; two great-grandchildren, Chelsey Rock and Colytn Dickison; a brother, Joseph Malvarose of Butler; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Mustello of Butler and Mrs. Phil (Dolores) Mania of Port Clinton, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
<B>SHEPTAK </B>— Friends of Matilda Sheptak, who died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler with Father Pierre Falkenhan, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.The Women's Council of the St. Peter Parish will meet at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
