The Pittsburgh Huskies Pee Wee AA hockey team was crowned USA Hockey Mid-Am District Pennsylvania state champion recently, defeating the North Hills Vipers 6-1 in the title game at Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

The Huskies defeated the North Pittsburgh Wildcats 7-3, Indiana Warriors 6-1 and Vipers 5-0 before playing the championship game.

Goalie Clay Bachman stopped 61 of 66 shots in the tournament. Troy Double scored six goals, Christian Miller and Alex Welsh four each.

Eric Leya added three goals, Nick Whann, Jake Snyder and Dustin Davis two each. Noah Moody and Candem Lydick scored a goal each.

The Huskies advance to the Mid-Am District Regional playoffs Friday in Sylvania, Ohio,.

The St. Alexis Catholic School's fourth-grade Lady Stars won the SSPeter &Paul Tournament recently.Members of the team include Lisa Lenhart, Sydney Palmer, Ashley Woods, Kaylee Koryak, Claudia Lenhart, Lynsey Stauber, Jessica Boy, Sammy Alioto, Anna Vellajo, Laurn Finikiotis and Amelia George.
