Today — Police charged Brian D. Schrecongost, 23, of Butler with driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana stemming from a Nov. 7 traffic stop on West Cunningham Street.In addition to DUI, Schrecongost faces charges for possession of a small amount of marijuana, not stopping at a red light, driving with an expired registration, and an open container violation.Brian Cairns, 23, of Karns City, a passenger in the vehicle, also was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and an open container violation.8:15 p.m. Saturday — Roseann Skal of Butler reported someone stole her purse from her unlocked vehicle on East Pearl Street. The purse and its contents are valued at $150.Saturday — An unknown driver in a white vehicle struck a car parked on Maharg Street at Maryland Avenue, and did not stop after the accident, which damaged both vehicles. Robert Batykefer Jr. of Butler owns the car.9:36 p.m. Friday — Jill Shanor of East Butler reported her son's coat and cell phone were stolen from the men's locker room at the YMCAon North Washington Street.11:29 a.m. Thursday — David A. Monks, 44, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at the couple's Bredin Street home. Police said Monks allegedly hit 41-year-old Angela D. Bennett in the head. The suspect is charged with simple assault and harassment.
2:54 p.m. Sunday — A van driven by David Hepler, 42, of West Sunbury struck a car at Route 8 and Unionville Road in Center Township. Jessica Lowry, 18, of Franklin, Venango County, who was driving the car, and Joe Spore, 20, of Franklin, a passenger, suffered minor injuries.Hepler, who also had minor injuries, was cited for a red light violation.6:15 a.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Chad Heasley, 38, of Mercer struck a guardrail along Branchton Road near New Hope Road in Cherry Township. Heasley, who fled the crash site, faces hit-and-run and other unspecified traffic violations.3:37 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Heather S. Carter, 22, of Slippery Rock crashed into a fence along West Liberty Road near Old Route 8 in Brady Township.3:55 a.m. Saturday — An SUV driven by Christina Thoma, 33, of Butler struck a tree along North Washington Street near North Wayne Street in Eau Claire. Thoma, who fled the crash site, faces charges for careless driving and other unspecified traffic violations.12:30 a.m. Saturday — A 17-year-old, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Minich Road in Center Township.Saturday — Police reported they are investigating an apparent credit card scam that cost a Slippery Rock Township cigar store more than $1,000.An unknown thief on Oct. 29 ordered $1,079 worth of cigars from Slippery Rock Cigars via the Internet. The cigars were delivered but the business, according to a police report, "did not receive payment due to the fraudulent use of a Visa credit card."8:22 p.m. Friday — An unknown driver in a late model, red pickup rear-ended a car on Benbrook Road near Lions Road in Center Township, and did not stop following the crash. Elizabeth Day, 57, of Mars was driving the car.6:30 a.m. Friday — A pickup driven by a 17-year-old Butler area boy and a car driven by Linda Roycroft, 58, of Worthington, Armstrong County, collided on Route 8 at Clearview Mall in Center Township. Roycroft was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.5:20 a.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Heath Croyle, 37, of Kittanning struck a deer on Route 422 in Clearfield Township.2:35 p.m. Thursday — An SUV driven by Charles W. Jordan IV, 21, of Butler crashed into a utility pole and phone booth along Route 38 near Route 58 in Eau Claire. The crash closed the road for about 90 minutes to allow crews to remove the damaged utility pole and power lines. Jordan was cited for driving too fast for conditions.2:05 p.m. Thursday — Ginny Deitrick, 29, of Harrisville lost control of her car due to a faulty suspension and struck a minivan parked on McKisson Street near North Church Street in Harrisville.1:30 p.m. Thursday — Robert Ernst, 35, of Butler was arrested for allegedly biting a 16-year-old girl's thumb during a domestic dispute at a Harmony Street in Connoquenessing. Ernst was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in Butler County Prison on $3,000 bond.2:45 a.m. Thursday — Robert Stalker, 41, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Alameda and New Castle roads in Butler Township.1 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Constance H. Garner, 41, of Harrisville struck and embankment and a PennDOTsign along Interstate 79 near West Park Road in Worth Township. Garner was cited for failing to immediately report the crash to authorities.10:50 a.m. Nov. 24 — A wallet was found at the Pacific Pride gas station on Route 422 in Summit Township. The wallet contained the driver's license of Larry Polhamus, 59, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County. Police said they have been unable to contact the apparent owner of the wallet.Nov. 15 — Police are investigating the theft of tools that were delivered to the wrong address sometime between Oct. 20 and Nov. 15. The victim, Victor Homa of Evans City, ordered the tools from Northern Tool and Equipment to be delivered via UPS to a Mount Nebo Lane address in Connoquenessing Township.State Police, Kittanning6:50 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Michael Hutchman, 24, of Saxonburg struck a deer on Route 28 in Frazer Township, Allegheny County.Saturday — An unknown burglar broke into Air Tak on Main Street in Worthington, and stole computer components and copper items from the business. The stolen property, valued at $3,000, was taken between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. Saturday.Nov. 24 — A 4-foot-by-3-foot orange wood-burning stove was stolen in a break-in at a camp near Sybertown Road in Bradys Bend Township. The stove, owned by Matthew Evans of Pittsburgh and valued at $700, was taken between Nov. 15 and 24.
6:03 p.m. Friday — An unknown hit-and-run driver struck a car on Route 19 at Leesburg Station Road in Springfield Township. The unidentified vehicle was traveling south and did not stop after the crash. Clyde Nuckols Jr., 37, of Louisa, Va., was driving the car.Friday — A laptop computer valued at more than $2,500 was one of several items reportedly taken from a vehicle parked between midnight and 2:30 a.m. at a Route 208 restaurant in Springfield Township.Also stolen was a Kodak digital camera worth $320, as well as clothing and a cell phone charger.10:15 p.m. Wednesday — A deer caused a near head-on crash on Route 302 near Courtney Mill Road in Liberty Township. Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the accident.Katherine Allias, 24, of Boyers swerved her eastbound sport utility vehicle to avoid the deer and collided with a westbound pickup truck driven by David Dunkerly, 35, of Grove City.
