The Seneca Valley Chiefs became the first 10- and 11-year-old team to win a Super Bowl in the Greater 19 Football Conference Saturday, defeating Upper St. Clair 20-0.
Justin Ruff recovered a fumble that led to the Chiefs' first touchdown and Richard Proper intercepted a pass.
Led by the front line of Greg Bayne, Billy Littlemeyer, Chris Maderia, Corey Laskey and Cam Zarnich, the Chiefs (10-0) recorded their seventh shutout of the season.
Seneca Valley had 206 yards rushing on 35 plays. Carter Ehms scored two touchdowns and Tony Palumbo added one and two PATs.
The offensive line of Sam Barbe, Nick Petroff, Laskey, Sam Polyac and Maderia sparked the running game.
Camden Lydick, Dustin Davis and Alex Welsh each registered a goal as the Pittsburgh Huskies Pee Wee AA team defeated the North Pittsburgh Wildcats 3-1 Saturday.Welsh, Lydick, Jake Snyder, Marcus Krstonich and Cody Krstonich each had assists for the Huskies (5-0).Clay Bachman made 23 saves for the Huskies, who play the Pittsburgh Predators Sunday in Castle Shannon.
The four Seneca Valley teams were defeated over the weekend.• Seneca Valley Varsity II Blue suffered a 6-1 loss to Bethel Park. Ryan Shutte scored the SVgoal, assisted by Nick Verona and Bobby Watson.• Seneca Valley Varsity IIlost a 5-3 decision to Baldwin as Tony Poleti scored two goals and Colin McGinnis one. Drew Sandora and Steve Pecora assisted and Joe Lang faced 22 shots on goal.• Seneca Valley Varsity IIIlost to Pine Richland, 4-3, as Vanya Russo scored twice and Andrew Williams once.• Seneca Valley JV 2 lost to Norwin, 5-3, as Marc-Anthony DiPlacido, Austin Martini and Ian Friedrich scored. Martini, Shawn Johnston and Greg Yobp had assists. Bryan Byrd made 25 saves in the loss.
