Boden 50th anniversary
Vernon and Shirley Boden of Butler and of Mesa, Ariz., celebrated 50 years of marriage with a surprise party and pig roast with their family and friends at their daughter's home.
Boden married the former Shirley Kennedy on Oct. 24, 1958, in Reidsville, N.C.
They have three children, the Rev. Timothy Boden of Butler, Lynnette Gallagher of Butler and Lonnie Boden of Petersburg, Ky.
They also have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Boden worked as an electrician for Pullman Standard until it closed and later owned and operated Vern's General Repair for 20 years.
Mrs. Boden is a homemaker and was the secretary for Vern's General Repair.
The Bodens enjoy traveling and have visited all but one of the 50 states.
They are members of Homeacre Chapel.
