Butler Twp. wins district
BUTLER TWP — The Butler Township Baseball 11-year-old all-star team showed last week why it's the cream of the District 25 crop — and proved it at the plate.
The squad posted 11 runs in all three of its District 25 tournament games — 11-2 against Franklin on Wednesday, 11-1 at Cranberry Friday, then an 11-2 triumph over Franklin in the championship game Saturday at Adelman Field.
With the win, Butler Township will advance to the sectionals, which will begin Thursday at Meadville.
In the championship final, Reid Werth smacked two doubles and a single, Luke Baranchak a double and single, Justin Rickert two singles and Conner Thomas a double.
Jesse Savisky was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits over six innings with no earned runs.
On Friday, Nick Reamer had a grand slam home run and Justin Rickert a homer and single while Werth and Baranchak combined on a two-hitter.
In the first game on Wednesday, Cody Laue homered while Savisky had a single and double and Thomas and Rickert two hits each.
