Sunday — James Hilliard, 22, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother at her Race Street apartment.Cathryn Hilliard told police that her son stomped on her left foot as she walked out of her apartment to take out the trash. She also told police that she has a protection from abuse order against the defendant.Hilliard is charged with simple assault, public drunkenness and violating the PFA. District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Hilliard on charges, and remanded him to the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.1:29 p.m. Tuesday — Atire knocked loose from a tractor-trailer bounced into the parking lot of a Route 8 tire store and crashed into a parked van.Police said the tire came off the unidentified rig traveling on Route 8 near Pepperland Boulevard. The tire hit a van owned by United Telephone Co., of Carlisle, which was parked in the ButlerTires for Less parking lot.The liberated tire then slammed into a display of wheels in the lot, damaging one of those wheels. The tractor-trailer did not stop after the accident.Police said the van sustained moderate damage to its rear passenger side panel, and property at the business sustained about $270.

2:29 a.m. April 27 — Jeffery Holmes, no age given, of West Leechburg, Armstrong County, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 356 near Route 28.2 a.m. April 27 — Patrick Tomanio, no age given, of Sarver was arrested for DUI on Route 356 near Reimer Road.

10:01 a.m. Sunday — Eric V. Burkhard, 43, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife during an argument at their Mahood Road home in Clay Township.The defendant is accused of putting his hands around Tina Burkhard's neck and threatening to kill her, according to court documents.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Burkhard on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment; he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail following arraignment.3:20 a.m. Sunday — Daniel Hilliard, 18, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 8 and Hall Road in Brady Township. Police said Mark Dellen, 18, of Lyndora, a passenger, also was cited for underage drinking.Sunday — A black, four-door, 1996 Isuzu Rodeo was reported stolen sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday from Hilliards Road in Washington Township. Robert Dudash of Petrolia owns the vehicle valued at $500.11:15 Saturday — Kathleen A. Miller, 47, of Evans City was arrested for suspicion of DUI after her sport utility vehicle struck a tree along Shannon Road near Welsh Road in Connoquenessing. Miller suffered minor injuries.1:50 p.m. Saturday — Cars driven by Gary Goerk Jr., 37, of Butler and Louis Arthur, 66, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, collided at Victory and Spring Valley roads in Clinton Township.Apassenger in Arthur's car, Marie Arthur, 58, of New Kensington was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, with minor injuries.6:30 p.m. Friday — Brian Arblaster, 31, of Boyers was injured when he crashed his all-terrain vehicle on Coaltown Road in Cherry Township. Arblaster was thrown about 40 feet from the ATVafter it hit several mailboxes.Police said the man was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.7:20 p.m. Thursday — Ap ickup truck driven by James R. Rock, 37, of West Sunbury and an SUVdriven by Robert M. Stone, 49, of Cranberry Township collided at Routes 68 and 38 in Summit Township. Police said Rock was cited for a left-turn violation.

April 22 — About 120 to 150 metal fence posts owned by Toby Township were stolen from the township building on Elder Road. The posts, valued at $1,200, were used to hold snow fences along municipal roads.Police said the fence posts were later sold at a local scrap yard. The theft occurred between April 14 and 22.

12:44 a.m. Saturday — Randy Barnes, 47, of Jackson Center, Mercer County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his motorcycle crashed into a stop sign at Route 8 and 208 in Barkeyville. Police said Barnes suffered moderate injuries.

9:30 p.m. Saturday — A Worthington man was arrested for allegedly swinging a golf club at a 36-year-old woman at a Craigsville Road home in West Franklin Township.Police said Danny Gahagan Jr., 36, was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail.1:05 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Kimberly R. Stubbs, 18, of Kittanning crashed into a median and guardrail on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. Police said Stubbs was cited for a lane violation.10 a.m. April 25 — An unknown copper thief broke into a fenced area around a cell tower on Cadogan-Slate Lick Road in North Buffalo Township and stole about 6 feet of wire valued at $200. The suspect also caused about $400 in damage to a copper wire ground box.

12:45 a.m. today — The driver of a horse-drawn buggy was seriously injured and the horse killed in a hit-and-run crash on Route 358 near Huey Road in Perry Township.Erven Byler, 22, of Hartstown, Crawford County, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio; his condition was not known this morning.Police said Byler was thrown about 50 feet off the buggy following the crash. The unidentified vehicle drove off after also hitting and fatally injuring the horse.Investigators noted the hit-and-run vehicle would have sustained severe damage in the front, with possible damage to its side and windshield.Anyone with information about the crash or knowledge about the unidentified vehicle is asked to call the barracks at 724-662-6162.12:10 a.m. Sunday — The George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility reported that one of its detainees escaped. Police did not identity the boy who escaped.Thursday — An unknown thief between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday stole various items valued at $3,300 from Tri-County Industries in Pine Township.The stolen property included six radiator cores, a Smith brand cutting torch and gauges and 50 feet of hose.
