Late comeback lifts Butler to win
The Butler baseball team certainly made Senior Day a memorable one.
The Tornado plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip Hampton 5-4 in a nonsection contest Thursday.
Tim Geibel led off with a walk, then, one out later, Ryan Armahizer walked and Bill Coleman loaded the bases with a single.
Zach Cuffman and Ken Rosenbauer sandwiched run-scoring singles around an RBI walk to Greg Hays that tied the game at 4.
Nick Rossmiller followed with an RBI double to win the game for Butler, which had all five of its hits in the final frame.
In other games:
• Travis McDougall pitched a complete game and had a single, a double, a triple and three RBI to lead Slippery Rock to an 8-1 victory over Commodore Perry.
• Joe King's RBI single capped a two-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Karns City a 5-4 win over Union.
• Derek Forese had two hits and two RBI, and Jason Ferderber added three hits to pace Grove City to an 8-2 triumph over Franklin.
• Jeff Kolish singled and doubled, but Knoch's playoff hopes took a major hit in a 7-4 loss to Highlands.
