Winfield Township playground reopens after renovation
Just in time for the end of summer, Winfield Township has reopened the playground at its community park on Brose Road after a renovation lasting over three months.
The playground closed to the public in mid-May to allow the township to begin the installation of a new rubber fall surface, which replaces the previous surface of wood mulch.
The renovation was funded with a $99,615 Local Share Account grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority which was announced in October 2024. Jeffrey Associates, a company in Allegheny County that specializes in installing playground equipment, was tasked with installing the fall surface.
According to township Supervisor Matthew Klabnik, the original target date for completion was the end of June, but the project was delayed by a run of bad weather. Other announced opening dates in August were missed due to what Klabnik called “delays with the contractor.”
