Moyer

Olivdene "Deanie" Dambach Moyer, 86, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Evans City, died Friday at the UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.

Born Feb. 9, 1922, in Evans City, she was the daughter of Wilbert W. and Viola Lutz Dambach.

Following graduation from the Evans City High School in 1940, she attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to study fashion illustration. She was employed by Perry Studios of Kaufmann's department store in Pittsburgh prior to starting her family. She later worked for Hoffman Studios of Evans City retouching photographs of high school seniors.

Mrs. Moyer most will be remembered for being a mom. In addition to her own three children, she welcomed neighborhood children into her yard and home.

She served as a Sunday school teacher, a Cub Scout den mother, a Girl Scout leader and as mother adviser to the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Evans City. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Chapter 37 of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as a worthy matron. She attended St. John's United Church of Christ, where she was involved with the Women's Circle.

As a wife and mother, she channeled her creative energy into sewing, decorating and needlework and won several ribbons for her afghans at the Butler Farm Show.

She is survived by a son, Robert Moyer and his wife, Pam, of Butler; two daughters, Barbara Coverdale and her husband, Harold, of Chesapeake, Va., and Maxine Zimmer and her husband, Gary, of Cranberry Township; a brother, Gerald Dambach of Zelienople; a sister, Norma Barclay of the North Side; six grandchildren, Brian Moyer, Jason Moyer and his wife, Paula, Heather Queen and her husband, Christopher, Brett Coverdale, Stacie Wilkins and her husband, Saeed, and Amy Coverdale; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Corey and Jayme Moyer and Joshua Queen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean E. Moyer, who died Nov. 4, 2007; and a brother, Richard Dambach.

Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Verna Call officiating.
