YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD
The Butler Junior High boys track and field team competed in the Mars Invitational Thursday and placed second out of 20 teams.
Cody West won the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 9.3 seconds. Mike McPherson was second in the shot put and discus.
Alex Yonker was third in the long jump while Tanner Wahler was third in the pole vault. Butler's 400-meter relay team of Evan Parke, Patrick Lokhaiser, Yonker and Dakoda Collins also finished third.
Carlos Sanchez was fourth in the 400 meters. The 3,200-relay team of Max Essig, Jordan Cratty, Adam Suter and Trey Neveux finished fourth as well.
Sanchez was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles while Matt Cole was fifth in the discus. Alex Scialabba was sixth in the pole vault.
Baseball
The Butler freshmen (7-4) dropped an 8-2 decision to North Allegheny recently. Cole Baxter and Tyler Slepski scored the Golden Tornado runs on hits by Baxter and Mike Hartman,
Lacrosse
The Butler K-4 team (2-2) defeated Pine-Richland, 12-4, recently. Jake Roskovski scored three goals while Jack Regal, Scott Mulig and Evan Suter added two each. Liam Moran, Ben and Luke Kranbacher added a goal each.
Roskovski and Luke Tomasovic combined for seven saves in goal. Butler hosts Sewickley Valley at 1 p.m. May 3.
Butler's fifth- and sixth-grade team (6-2) posted two wins over Sewickley Academy and one over North Allegheny recently. Clay Bachman scored nine goals in the three games with Nick Whann and Christian Miller adding four each.
Sebastian Moran scored three, Cody Houston, Jake Harrison and Robbie Eberhardt two each. Troy Double, Chandler Harvey, AJRitenour, Hyte Eurich and Jordan Krajnikovich scored one goal each.
Josh Jablonski made 20 saves in goal.
