Garfield M. "Tim" Timmis, 91, formerly of Eau Claire, died of natural causes at 5:16 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Born in Corsica, Jefferson County, July 11, 1916, he was the son of Frank C. and Elizabeth Davis Timmis.

He was a graduate of Rice Avenue Union High School in Girard, Erie County, and had completed many correspondence courses of higher learning during his life.

Mr. Timmis served with the Army in both World War II and the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of master sergeant.

He retired in 1979 as the supervisor of operations with U.S. Steel at Boyers after 43 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Butler and formerly belonged to Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire for years. He was a member of the Harrisville American Legion Post and the VFW Post in Cherry Valley.

As long a health permitted, he was a well-known avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy J. Sheffer, who he married Sept. 25, 1937, of Concordia, and a daughter, Sherry Timmis Schatz and her husband, Ken, of Paradise, Aria.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Hope Timmis, and two sisters, Constance and Florence Timmis.

<B>TIMMINS</B> — Friends of Garfield M. "Tim" Timmis, who died Thursday, March 13, 2008, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Main Street/Route 38, Eau Claire. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
