BUTLER TWP — Butler freshman Crystal Chilcott, a figure skater who trains at Robert Morris University's Island Sports Center, won a gold medal in Beaver County recently for her performance in the intermediate ladies free style event.

Chilcott was participating in the U.S Figure Skating Association's Skate Into Spring competition, hosted by the Beaver County Figure Skating Club.

She is coached by Russian Olympic gold medalist Elena Valova and national level coach Liz Leavey.

Longtime Lernerville Speedway publicist Carol Gamble debuts as the Eagle's new racing columnist today.Gamble has worked in publicity at Lernerville for 37 years. She also has worked for North Hills Speedway, Tri-City Speedway, Motordrome and Pennsylvania Motor Speedway during her career.Retired after teaching at Langley High School in Pittsburgh for 33 years, she lives in Monroeville.

PHOENIX — Two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald signed a $40 million, four-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday just before leaving on a South American vacation he surely can afford.The deal includes $30 million guaranteed, a generous figure for a franchise that was long considered one of the stingiest in sports.The Cardinals wanted to restructure the former Pitt star's incentive-laden rookie contract because he had reached many of the benchmarks and was to receive $14.6 million in 2008 and just under $17.4 million in 2009.
