Leonard Allan Underwood

Leonard Allan Underwood, 46, of East Hampton, Conn., died Sunday at Middlesex (Connecticut) Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 16, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leonard G. and Geraldine R. Page Underwood and a proud veteran of the U.S.Marine Corps.

He was a graduate of Mars High School.

Mr. Underwood was a member of the Silk City Striders Running Club and competed twice in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.

During his 14 years as a sergeant in the Marine Corps, he took part in operations in Granada, Carricou, Beirut, Mogadishu and Somalia, as well as operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq.

Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife, Robin Rogers Underwood; a daughter, Jennifer Lyne Underwood of Terryville; two sons, Anthony Underwood and Michael A. Underwood, both of East Hampton; a sister, Lisa McHenry, and her husband Barry, his niece, Alicia Breton, and her husband, Mitchell; his nephew, Shawn McHenry, all of Terryville; and various aunts, uncles and cousins.

<B>UNDERWOOD — </B>Services for Leonard Allan Underwood, who died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church, 23 Laning St., Southington, Conn. Burial with military honors will follow at State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. There is no visitation, but the <B>FUNK FUNERAL HOME,</B> in East Hampton, Conn., is making the arrangements.Memorial contributions may be made to Middletown Hospice Care, 23 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06045.
