Northern Steel Select Soccer Club teams enjoyed a successful weekend recently:
• The under-12 girls defeated Century, 1-0, as Olivia Sharbaugh scored the lone goal. Goalie Charlene Doerr of Portersville got the shutout.
• Kristen Check scored the lone goal as the under-13 girls had a 1-1 tie with Century United. Check scored two goals and Krista Burdett one in a 3-2 win over the Erie Admirals.
• James Winiesky and Kyle Terrill scored goals as the under-14 boys tied Stars United, 2-2.
In other games:
• Cody Prelec and Kyle Hinchberger scored goals as the Prospect Boys and Girls Club defeated Mohawk, 2-1. Quay Barnhart and Johnny Marks had assists. Jordan Marks and Prelec shared the win in goal.
• Michael Stutz scored two goals while Brock and Braden Sloan added one each as the Slippery Rock Middle School eighth-grade soccer team tied Hubbard, 4-4. Stutz, Hinchberger, Danielle Wissinger and Rachel Caldwell had assists.
• The Slippery Rock eighth-grade team lost to Hickory 2-1. Brock Sloan scored the lone goal, assisted by Aaron Gercken. Jordan Marks made 14 saves.
• North Allegheny defeated the Butler Middle School girls, 1-0. Taylor Troyan stopped all 12 shots she faced in the first half for Butler and Fontaine Rittleman stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced in the second half.
• The SVLightning Express battled SVNorth to a 0-0 tie.
