The Butler junior high girls soccer team battled North Hills to a 1-all tie recently as Mickayla Denniston scored the Tornado goal, assisted by Lauren Loebell.

Taylor Troyon stopped 21 of 22 shots in goal. Playing well defensively in the back were Megan McCleary, Alexa Grey, Ali Roberts, Hanna Leisie, Jenna Hornaceck and Mariah Mikula.

In other games:

• Cody Wolinski scored three goals as the Prospect Boys and Girls Club defeated Freeport 7-2. Michael Stutz and Kyle Hinchberger added two goals each, and Quay Barnhart had three assists.

• The under-12 girls Northern Steel Select soccer team won two games and lost one at the Great Lakes Alliance Games in Buffalo, N.Y., last weekend.

Victories were 4-0 over the Rochester Rhinos and 3-0 over Buffalo United. Northern Steel (11-1) received two goals each from Kyler Lum, Aubri McCoy and Lauren Schillero, and one goal each from Olivia Sharbaugh and Alleen Brown.

• The Slippery Rock girls under-14 Division C team defeated Freedom 6-0 last weekend. Mackenzie Burkhart scored three goals, and Laura Hilliard, Haley Urban and Anna Cessar hand one each. Cessar and Harley Boyd had two assists each.

Goalkeepers were Cassie Cooper and Aster Chmielewski.
