Michael Corvino
Michael Corvino, 46, president of the JanSport Co., died Saturday in a car accident near his home in Danville, Calif.
Mike moved to the Bay Area in 2005 with his family after being promoted to president of the JanSport backpack company. He was a gregarious leader and compassionate colleague to all those he touched during his 20 years in the apparel and sportswear industry. He will be remembered for his love of life, devotion to family and his ability inspire all who knew him.
He was born in Philadelphia and played high school football at Pius X in Pennsylvania. He played linebacker for the University of Maryland at College Park from 1978-1982 and was named All-ACC. In 1983, he joined the USFL, playing for the Washington Federals until 1985.
Mike was a devoted husband and father, and he is survived by his wife, Mars native Joyce Coss Corvino; and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Alexandra. His loving father, Joseph Corvino and sister Maria Corvino live in Pen Argyl, Northampton County.
<B>CORVINO </B>— Friends of Michael Corvino, who died Saturday, July 14, 2007, are invited to a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 300 Babbitt Ave. Pen Argyl, Pa.A second memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in San Ramon, Calif.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pius X High School Scholarship Fund, Patrick Lamb M.DIV., 580 3rd Ave., Bangor, PA 18013-1399, in memory of Michael Corvino.
