Ernest J. "Jim" Kamerer Jr., 84, of Chicora died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday at ACMH Hospital, Kittanning.

Born in Akron, Ohio, May 8, 1923, he was the son of Ernest J. and Alverda Rumbaugh Kamerer Sr.

He and his wife owned and operated a restaurant in Chicora from 1949 to 1952. He also owned and operated a plumbing and heating store in Chicora for 34 years until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Kamerer was a World War II veteran and a life member of the Disabled Veterans.

He was a Protestant.

Surviving are his wife, Dora A. Ellenberger Kamerer, whom he married April 28, 1946; a daughter, Christine Lenning of Pittsburgh; two sons, Paul Kamerer of Chicora and Thomas Kamerer of Cowansville; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

<B>KAMERER</B> — Friends of Ernest J. "Jim" Kamerer Jr., who died Tuesday, July 9, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the<B> STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Kenneth Tack officiating. Burial will be at the Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners.
