McCommon

Thomas A. McCommon, 68, of Moose Road in Renfrew died Tuesday after a long illness.

Born March 15, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of James A. and Stella Marie Materniak McCommon.

Mr. McCommon was retired from the paint shop at the Pullman Standard Car Co., where he worked for 26 years until it closed in 1983.

He was the recipient of a heart transplant on Oct. 13, 1992.

Mr. McCommon was a social member of the East Butler Fireman's Club for more than 30 years. He enjoyed pistol target shooting, and he was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Heath McCommon, whom he married Dec. 19, 1981; seven sons, Thomas McCommon, Michael McCommon, Martin McCommon, Paul Nagy, Daniel Manning and Donald Vargo, all of Butler, and Richard Nagy of South Carolina; six daughters, Joan Roddy of Oil City, Tammy Smith of Clarion, Beth Ann Manning of Virginia, Shelia Bell of Harrisville and Lori Codispot and Malissa Tincha, both of Butler; two brothers, James and David McCommon, both of Butler; five sisters, Karen Hartman, Anna Withrow, Linda Desmond and Dorothy Ealy, all of Butler, and Sandra Day of Parker; 32 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son and three grandchildren.

<B>MCCOMMON —</B> Friends of Thomas A. McCommon who died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Nuzzo, senior pastor of the Victory Family Church in Cranberry Township, officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
