Butler Twp.'s wins put team in championship

WARREN — The Butler Township 9- and 10-year-old Little League team won a pair of games this weekend in the Section 1 tournament in Warren to keep their run toward the state tournament alive.

Butler Township toppled General McLane 2-1 in seven innings Saturday and edged Middle Creek 12-7 Sunday.

Nick Patton earned the win onSaturday with a dominating pitching performance. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter. He also had two hits in the win.

Jesse Savisky doubled and singled and Connor Foust scored the winning run on a fielder's choice by Mark Gross.

On Sunday, Connor Thomas doubled and singled and Gross and Patton each had two hits as Butler Township outslugged Middle Creek.

The wins put Butler Township in the championship game against host Warren at 6 p.m. today.

Butler Township must beat Warren twice to earn the title and advance to the state tournament.

If Butler Township wins today, the deciding game will be played Tuesday night in Warren.
