Slater

Justin C. Slater, 26, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., formerly of the North Oakland area, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lee Memorial Hospital in Florida after a hit-and-run accident in Lehigh Acres on Tuesday.

Born in Butler June 16, 1981, he was the son of Evelyn Slater and Edward Price.

He was a carpenter for Joe Butler Carpentry in Lehigh Acres for 10 years.

He survived lymphoma cancer at the age of 15.

Mr. Slater was an avid sportsman and loved hockey, baseball, horseshoes, boxing and fishing. He also loved playing the bass guitar.

Surviving are his mother of Butler; his father of Chicora; a sister, Amy Slater of Cabot; a brother, Mark Slater of Lehigh Acres; an aunt, Linda Slater and her companion, Dan Essert, with whom he made his home in Lehigh Acres; two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, a cousin and aunts and uncles.

<B>SLATER </B>— Friends of Justin C. Slater, who died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Blessing services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. DePaul Ripko O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.
