Donald M. Phillips Sr.

Donald M. Phillips Sr., 88, of Leesburg died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

Born Feb. 1, 1919, in Leechburg, he was the son of Melvin Dale Phillips and Mildred Morrison.

He served 39 months in the Army during World War II and retired as an inspector from Republic Steel in Youngstown, Ohio.

Mr. Phillips was a member and former trustee of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church. He had served as sexton of the Leesburg Cemetery for more than 30 years.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing an hunting.

Surviving are two sons, Donald M. Phillips Jr. of Mercer and Ronald L. Phillips of Leesburg; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

His wife, Eleanor Marie Ward Phillips, whom he married Dec. 31, 1941, preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Grossman, Dorothy Karns and an infant sister.

<B>PHILLIPS</B> — Friends of Donald M. Phillips Sr., who died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 1778 Perry Highway, Leesburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Martin, pastor of the First Assembly of God of Hermitage, officiating. Burial will be at the Leesburg Cemetery, Springfield Township, Mercer County.Memorial donations may be made to the First Assembly of God, 1455 N. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
