Casserly

Louis J. Casserly, 95, of Concordia at the Orc-hard in Butler, formerly of Zelie-nople, died Tuesday.

Born July 29, 1911, in Harmony, he was the son of John W. and Lena Kaufman Casserly.

He was a graduate of Zelienople High School and Geneva College in Beaver Falls and had taken graduate courses at the University of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Casserly had taught school for several years in Jackson Township, and his first teaching position was in a one-room school near Evans City. In 1973, he retired from the National Tube Co. in Ellwood City after 33 years.

He was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Zelienople; the Harmonist Historical Society, Harmony; the Tanglewood Association, and the National Honor Society.

He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Lou Diehl and her husband, William, of Level Green, Westmoreland County, and Vicki Lynn Morgan of Butler; a son, Timothy James Casserly and his wife, Connie, of Herndon, Va.; a stepdaughter, Carol Graff and her husband, Glenn, of Spring, Texas; and a stepson, Thomas Ford and his wife, Lyn, of Punta Gorda, Fla. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Canan Casserly, who died in 1967, and his second wife, Jean Bonner Ford Casserly, who died in 1999. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Casserly, and a sister, Fran West.
