Joan F. Gilliland

Joan F. McGeary Gilliland, 71, of Butler died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday at her home.

Born Nov. 13, 1935, in Butler, she was the daughter of Frank Booth McGeary and Harriet Katherine Norrington Czarniecki.

She was a member of the Oak Hills Christian Church.

Mrs. Gilliland enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and league bowling.

She had been a chaperone for the Butler Vagabonds. She loved to travel and was an avid reader.

Surviving are her husband, John L. Gilliland, whom she married Aug. 23, 1957; three daughters, Kathryn R. Brannon and Joyce E. Gregg, both of Butler, and Mrs. Carole A. Falk and her husband, Jerry, of South Hill, Va.; two sons, John L. Gilliland Jr. and his wife, Jennifer and Paul R. Gilliland, all of Butler; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Robert (Joyce S.) Webster of Mars, also survives.

<B>GILLILAND </B>— Friends of Joan F. McGeary Gilliland, who died Saturday, June 9, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Phillip Conyers, her pastor, officiating.
