Ronald R. 'Dick' Stetzer
Ronald Richard "Dick" Stetzer, 65, of Butler died Tuesday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler, April 16, 1942, he was a son of Vernon V. Stetzer and the late Mary Bauer Stetzer.
He retired in 2002 from the pollution control department at AK Steel after 38 years.
Mr. Stetzer was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved to travel cross-country and visited almost every state, but his true avocation was his grandchildren.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era and a member of American Legion Post 778. He belonged to the Italian Society and was a 30-year member of the YMCA.
He also was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
Surviving are his wife, Janet S. Uram Stetzer, whom he married Sept. 8, 1962; a son, David R. Stetzer and his wife, Maria, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Maria Leslie and her husband, Greg, of O'Fallow, Mo., and Laurie Jo Whitney and her husband, Mark, of Meadville; eight grandchildren, Emily, Jeremy and Melanie Stetzer, Allison and Nicole Leslie and Samantha, Paige and Marco Whitney.
His father and stepmother, Vern and Betty Stetzer of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Gordon Stetzer and his wife, Margie, of Butler; a sister, Joyce Rodgers and her husband, John, of Chandler, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was a beloved friend to many.
A brother preceded him in death.
<B>STETZER </B>-— Friends of Ronald Richard "Dick" Stetzer, who died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Dennis Bogda will officiate.
