Salem

Edna L. Salem, 91, of Mars, died Saturday morning at the LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in Somerset County, May 20, 1915, she was the daughter of Harvey and Emma Keefer Tayman.

She was a homemaker, and a past president and treasurer of the Mars VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Mars Women's Club. She had been a volunteer for years at the St. John Lutheran Home.

Mrs. Salem was an elder and deacon at the Mars United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a son, Robert L. Salem and his wife, Lynn, of East Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Della Anthony of Brackenridge; two nieces, Nancy Leonburg of Mars and Mrs. Hal (Linda) Marshall of California; and two nephews, Harry Lee Tayman of Butler and Robert Andrew and his wife, Judith, of New York.

Her husband, LaVerne Salem, whom she married Aug. 30, 1941, died June 17, 2004. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Gilbert and Paul Tayman.

<B>SALEM </B>— Friends of Edna L. Salem, who died Saturday, April 28, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Jean Gomola, her church pastor, officiating.
