Sunday — Several homeowners in the 200 block of North Elm Street reported someone overnight had slashed the tires of their vehicles. Police said a single tire had been cut on most of the vehicles. A total of seven vehicles were targeted and eight tires cut.Sunday — About $1,030 in property was stolen overnight from three vehicles parked at a Third Street home. Stolen from the vehicles at the Nulph residence were two cell phones, a compact disc case with about 70 CDs, $10 in change and a bottle of perfume. The vehicles were owned by Kerrie, Lena and Jessica Nulph.Sunday — Gail Jordan reported a black leather briefcase and a small amount of change were taken overnight from two vehicles at his North Main Street home. The stolen property is valued at $170.Sunday — Police reported two Butler men face gun charges following a May 13 traffic stop on North Chestnut Street.Officers found Brian Patrick O'Donnell, 23, riding in the vehicle. He was searched and police found a .38-caliber pistol in his pants' waistband. There were six bullets in the clip but the chamber was empty.Police checked O'Donnell's criminal record and learned he had been convicted of felony assault in July 2005.O'Donnell is charged with felons not to possess firearms and carrying a gun without a permit.Meanwhile, police on Sunday charged Bruce Cornetti, Jr., 22, who allegedly sold O'Donnell the pistol. Cornetti is charged with illegal sale/transfer of a firearm and selling a gun without a license.Sunday — Police reported they are still seeking the owner or owners of several pieces of construction equipment that were found April 30 on the city's South Side The owner can claim the items by calling police at 724-287-7743.
2:53 p.m. Saturday — Nicholas Swidzinski, 23, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Whitestown Road. Police also cited Swidzinski for reckless driving, careless driving and a lane violation.
8:30 a.m. Monday — A van driven by Paul Brinker, 44, of Slippery Rock and a pickup truck driven by Joshua Powell, 32, of Grove City collided on Route 108 near Barron Road in Worth Township.Brinker suffered a moderate head injury while a 10-year-old riding in the pickup suffered minor leg and head injuries. Police said Brinker faces charges of careless driving and illegal entering or crossing a road.Monday — Two Pepsi machines were broken into and damaged overnight outside two northern Butler County businesses.Currency and coins were stolen from one machine at the Penn-Gold Ice Cream Co. on South Main Street in Harrisville, and another machine at the Kozy Rest Campground on Campground Road in Marion Township.While police have no suspects, they released the following description of the possible thief in the Harrisville incident: a white man, between 20 and 30, short hair. The man was driving a blue or dark-colored minivan.Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.Friday — A white, 1992 Yamaha 250WR motorcycle valued at $800 was stolen between 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Friday from the North Main Street home of Lance Colville in Chicora.May 1 — A purple go kart valued at $800 was stolen between April 15 and May 1 from the home of Charles Hupp on Seven Hills Road in Oakland Township.
4:58 a.m. Thursday — A vehicle driven by John M. Rodgers, 41, of Harrisville crashed onto its roof along Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.Police said Rodgers apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle hit an embankment and became airborne, and traveled down a 15- to 20-foot embankment.Rodgers, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for moderate injures at Grove City Medical Center. Police cited him for careless driving.12:25 a.m. April 14 — Richard Rohrer, no age given, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck the rear of another car on Route 208 in Springfield Township, Mercer County. Police also cited Rohrer for driving with a suspended license and careless driving.
