Steinke

Anna May Steinke, 78, of Mars died Friday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.

Born in Middle Lancaster, Butler County, Feb. 19, 1929, she was raised by Edward and Nina Ziegler of Mars.

She had been a sales clerk at Ziegler's five and dime store in Mars.

Mrs. Steinke was a member of the Mars United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the women's group.

She was an avid animal lover.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Walter Dennis Steinke, D.O., and his wife, Laura, of Lancaster, Lancaster County; three grandchildren, Emily, Amanda and Andrew Steinke; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Gray of Renfrew.

Her husband, Walter A. Steinke, whom she married June 6, 1951, died Feb. 1, 1999. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Garnet Hartzell.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Austin Hornyak, her church pastor, officiating.
