Philip J. Malvarose, 69, of 354 Old Plank Road died early Wednesday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born in Butler, March 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Quedo And Josephine Pape Malvarose.

He retired after working in concrete construction out of Butler Local 323 of the Laborers Union. He also was an expert woodworker hobbyist and had built many miniature model homes and doll houses. He also was an accomplished watercolor and oil artist.

Mr. Malvarose was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Sons of Italy.

A veteran of the Army, he served during the Vietnam War, continued as a sergeant in the Army Reserves 319th Engineer Battalion and retired in 1994 after 28 years.

Surviving are his wife, Victoria Gold Graham Malvarose, whom he married June 25, 1966; three sons, Philip G. Malvarose and Ralph B. Graham, both of Butler, and George Michael Graham of North Washington; a daughter, S. Elizabeth Kline of Butler, and two sisters, Mrs. Michael (Carol) DeMayo of West Sunbury and Mrs. Peter (Alice) Pataro of Cheverly, Md. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

<B>MALVAROSE </B>— Friends of Philip J. Malvarose, who died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Dolan, his church pastor, officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the VFW Post 249 Ceremonial Honors Squad, will follow at Butler County Memorial Park cemetery, Butler Township.Additional information can be found and condolence messages placed at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
