Charles 'Pete' Pontius

Charles C. "Pete" Pontius, 85, of Chicora died Tuesday at ACMHHospital in Kittanning.

Born March 25, 1921, in Chicora, he was the son of Howard T. and Veronica Holly Pontius.

He was a graduate of Chicora High School and of the Pittsburgh Technical Trade School.

A veteran of the Army, he served during World War II.

He worked at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center for several years during the 1940s. He also worked as a self-employed television repairman for 20 years, having studied radio and television repair in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Pontius was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora and the Chicora American Legion.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Richard (Lois) Bartholomew of Chicora; a nephew, a niece and a great-niece.

<B>PONTIUS</B> — Friends of Charles C. "Pete" Pontius, who died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A visitation also will be held at 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, officiated by the Rev. James A. Higgins. Burial will be in Hemphill Cemetery in Chicora.Members of the Chicora American Legion and the Chicora VFW will conduct military services.
