Leonard Rodgers
Leonard F. “Lenny” Rodgers, 64, of Butler died unexpectedly Wed-nesday at his home.
Born Sept. 30, 1942, in Adrian, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Ceola Jack Rodgers.
He had worked at Pullman-Standard for 18 years until the company closed, and he retired from St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1999 as the head custodian after 15 years.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
He enjoyed fishing and loved to hunt, especially at camp. He was a member of the Happy Hunters Sportsmen’s Club and was a loyal customer of the old Summit Diner, the old Hot Dog Shop and the East Butler Railroad Crossing Deli. He also enjoyed making Sunday dinner for the whole family.
Surviving are his wife, Dian Reott Rodgers, whom he married July 11, 1964; three sons, Brian Rodgers and his wife, Marcey, of Murrysville, Bruce Rodgers and his wife, Becky, of Chicora and Barry Rodgers and his wife, Kim, of Parker; two daughters, Kelly Sproul and her husband, Brian, of West Sunbury and Kristy Leinenbach and her husband, Chris, of Butler; and the proud pappy of five grandchildren, Shawn, Jake, Angel, Devin and Brian.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. William (Phyllis) Lackey and Mrs. George (Reba) Doutt, both of Butler, and Ms. Carol Sue Mowery of Renfrew; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
An infant brother and infant sister preceded him in death.
RODGERS — Friends of Leonard F. “Lenny” Rodgers, who died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman with the Rev. John McCloskey, O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.Members of St. Mary Parish will hold a scriptural vigil service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
