YOUTH IN BRIEF

The Butler Eagle sports department is seeking reader input for its weekly youth sports page, which will consist of subject matter pertaining to all youth sports.

The Slippery Rock University baseball staff is offering the Rock Solid Hardball Pitching and Hitting Clinics from November through February.The individualized pitching and hitting clinics are one-hour time slots for four weeks.Call the SRU baseball office at 724-738-2813 for details.

The La Roche College baseball staff is offering a five-week Super Skills Clinic for ages 6-14 beginning in January.Call the baseball office at 412-536-1046 for details.

The Butler Elementary In line hockey team opened its season last weekend with a victory over Canon-McMillan at the Island Sports Center.Ryan Denny had four goals and three assists with Jonathan Fair adding three goals, Conner Scott two goals and an assist, Justin Wehrli an assist. Jeremiah Elsass was the winning goaltender.Other team members include C.J. Campbell, Jake Campbell, Dustin Davis, Tanner Gilliland, Caleb Henson and Dalton Scott.

The Karns City Area Athletic Association Softball League will hold an important meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Chicora Moose.Nominations and election of new officers will take place. Officer vacancies must be filled for the league to continue. Those interested in holding an office or doing volunteer work for the league should attend.

Advanced Approach Volleyball will be holding volleyball clinics for beginner, intermediate and advanced male and female players in late October and early November.Cost is $10 per session. Tryouts for Advanced Approach's male and female Junior Olympic volleyball teams (ages 8-18) will be held in late October and early November. Cost to try out is $10.Clinics and tryouts will be held at various locations and are open to students in all school districts. Call 724-242-0440 for details.

The Titusville YMCA will be holding its Chuck-n-Duck II Dodgeball Tournament Nov. 12.The tournament features age groups of grades 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and ages 19-up. There are separate divisions for men and women.Cost is $25 for a youth team, $35 for an adult team. Call 814-827-3931 for details.
