The Butler County Bureau of Elections is hosting another touch-screen voting machine demonstration from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the bureau's office on the lower level of the Butler County Government Center.

The vendor is the second to offer a demonstration. Others are planned. For more information, call the bureau at 724-284-5308.

The Butler County Housing Authority has been awarded a housing counseling grant by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help families buy a home or keep their home.The grant is for $21,876.HUD released almost $42 million nationwide in counseling grants to provide counseling to first-time homeowners or current homeowners who need help keeping their homes.

BUTLER TWP - Prospective students and their parents can attend Butler County Community College's Annual Open House from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Convocation Center.It will have information on the more than 60 degree and occupational programs at the college.Visitors can talk to faculty about specific programs and career opportunities in the various fields. They also can learn about admissions, financial aid and scholarships, and transfer programs.BC3 offers two-year associate's degrees, certificates and diplomas. RIMERSBURG, Clarion County - The Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library will host the program "Faces of the Civil War" at 7 p.m. Oct. 18.Paul Newman, a history professor at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, will share the many faces of the Civil War in a slide presentation using both well-known and obscure Civil War photography.Newman will explore the real human consequences of America's first modern armed conflict.The program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council Program.For information, contact the library, 673 Main St., at 814-473-3800.
