12:21 p.m. Sunday — Police said they Tasered a suspected shoplifter after an incident at the Dollar General store on North Main Street. George W. Willis, 31, of Butler, is charged with resisting arrest and retail theft.An officer called to the store saw Willis seated outside. Moments later, he allegedly ran. He headed south on Main Street before cutting back toward the door to the store, where a group of people were, police said.“It appeared as though Willis might harm the persons inside,” the officer said in his affidavit, “so for their safety, I deployed my Taser to safely affect an arrest before he gained access to the store.”Willis is accused of shoplifting $2.12 worth of merchandise.

10:08 p.m. Oct. 7 — Trevor G. Fockler, 49, of Butler, was arrested for driving under the influence after he allegedly crashed his vehicle at Route 422 and Greenview Drive. He was not injured.Fockler was arraigned on charges of DUI, careless driving and failing to keep right. He is free on $2,000 bail.

6:57 p.m. Oct. 2 — James A. Grills, 18, of Slippery Rock was arrested on charges he pointed a knife at a child during an incident in the area of Kelly Boulevard and Grove City Road in Slippery Rock. No one was injured.Police said they found the defendant after they were called for a report of a man waving a knife at children. Officers found Grills with a knife in his pocket, according to court documents, but he denied pulling it on anyone.During their investigation, police spoke to three children, who accused the suspect of having a knife. One of the children, a girl, allegedly told police that he put the knife behind her back and she feared for her safety.Grills later was taken to the police station and questioned further. He “admitted to pulling his knife out in the presence of the children and letting one of the children play with (it),” documents said. He denied he pointed the knife at any of the children.He was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, and later released on nonmonetary bail.

7:17 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Joden R. Garver, 36, of Oil City, Venango County, struck a deer on Interstate 79 south in Muddy Creek Township. He was not injured, but his car had to be towed.11:25 p.m. Sunday — An unknown driver struck a ditch on Trimbur Road in Donegal Township, and fled after the crash. Police said they found the car, a 2004 Toyota Camry, in the 10-foot ditch.Sunday — A handgun and ammo were stolen in a burglary at a home on Garner Street in Eau Claire. The break-in occurred between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.Taken was a black polymer 9 mm Taurus model G2C pistol bearing the serial number 5MU15219, a black Taurus 12-round pistol magazine and 12 bullets. The investigation continues, according to a police report, which did not indicate if there are any suspects.9:37 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Richard L. Tremba, 51, of Butler hit a deer on Route 356 just south of Hinchberger Road in Summit Township. He was not injured, but his car had to be towed.Oct. 7 — William L. Cousins Jr., 35, of Butler was charged with drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop in Butler Township. The stop was made, police said, after a trooper initially spotted his car around 9:55 p.m. Sept. 18 on West New Castle Street in Butler with a faulty brake light.Police subsequently took Cousins to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed he had marijuana and hydrocodone in his system, according to court documents.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with driving a vehicle with unsafe equipment, careless driving, failing to sign his vehicle registration card and a seat-belt violation.Oct. 5 — Ashley A. Young, 26, of Summit Township, was charged with illegally trying to buy a pistol at a Summit Township gun store in March. She is accused of providing false information on an application that was required March 21 when she attempted to purchase a 9 mm handgun at Sportsman's Supply Company on Route 356.When her information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, she was denied the purchase.Young is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony.Oct. 5 — Richard L. Lilly Jr., 26, of Butler, was charged with leading police on a pursuit last month in Franklin Township. Police said that during the pursuit around 6:25 p.m. Sept. 4, he turned onto Pflugh Road before pulling off the road and fleeing the SUV he was driving.In the vehicle, police said, were several open cans of beer. Lilly is charged with a misdemeanor count of fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to use turn signals and driving a vehicle with an open container of alcohol.Oct. 5 — Police charged an Ohio woman with driving on drugs stemming from a speeding stop last month in Muddy Creek Township. Kathryn G. Beamer, 31, of Lowellville, was clocked by radar going 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 422 at Pleasant Valley Road.Beamer eventually was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. She tested positive for marijuana, buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine, according to court documents.She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.Oct. 5 — Adrian Q. Nicelli, 20, of Butler Township, was charged with having heroin and other drug contraband in connection with a July incident in Summit Township. Police said they found him around 1:35 a.m. July 25 walking on the side of Route 356 near Grohman Road.While talking with Nicelli, according to court documents, a trooper noticed a knife on one of his pockets. Police said during a consent search of the defendant, they found a stamp bag of suspected heroin, an empty stamp bag and a crack pipe.Nicelli is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Oct. 5 — Kristi L. Bowser, 46, of Slippery Rock Township, was charged with driving on drugs and alcohol stemming from a July traffic stop in Oakland Township. She was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. July 26 on Route 68 near Snyder Lane.Police said they later took her to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed she tested positive for cocaine and benzoylecgonine. Additionally, her blood-alcohol level was 0.041 percent.Bowser is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and a seat-belt violation.
