Motorcyclist flown to hospital after Monday crash in Slippery Rock

A 27-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter Monday, April 29, after a crash in Slippery Rock.

The crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Franklin Street at its intersection with Main Street.

Chief Terry Fedokovitz of Slippery Rock Borough police said the crash occurred when the motorcyclist rear-ended a passenger vehicle. The motorcycle then traveled into the opposite lane and hit another vehicle, he said.

“He was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital with serious injuries,” he said.

The man was taken by ambulance to Morrow Field House on Slippery Rock University’s campus, which was established as the landing zone for the medical helicopter.

An ambulance was also requested to the scene to evaluate the driver of one of the vehicles involved, Fedokovitz said, but that person was ultimately not transported.

Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team and ambulance and Superior EMS assisted police on scene.
